February 12, 2014 • We are seeking a part-time Textile Design Assistant to help the Creative Director with development and pre-production of collections created by our licensed artists.
Specifics- Position: Textile Design Assistant
- Description: Assistant to the Creative Director to prepare artwork for the mill and follow through to final approvals.
- Location: Cranford NJ – easy to get to by car or train.
- Timing: This is a part-time position with a fairly flexible schedule. We’ll work together to determine the best time.
- Compensation: This a paid part-time position. Salary based on experience.
- Qualifications: Introductory level – great experience for someone starting out.
- Verify repeats.
- Scale for screen sizes.
- Create pitch sheets.
- Choose and order color standards.
- Maintains an organized project identification system.
- Assigns pattern and color numbers.
- Prepares artwork package with production ready standards.
- Send digital files to mills.
- Works closely with mills to address technical issues as they arise.
- Organize strike-offs and samples.
- Maintains printer and supply levels as needed.
- Creates web-ready images and uploads them onto the main website (via Word Press)
- Constant interaction with Creative Director.
- Strong computer skills: Illustrator and Photoshop proficiency required. InDesign helpful.
- General knowledge of print and textile design.
- Good sense of color application.
- Works well under pressure.
- Basic Mac/Apple knowledge required.
- Good interpersonal, communication and organizational skills.
- Team player with strong organizational and time management skills.
- Associate’s Degree in Textile Design, Fine Art, or Fashion Design.
