Álex Roda was born in Madrid to a Spanish father and a French mother. Fascinated by forms, she has always looked closely at the world, and so after an early phase as a translator, she went back to school to study interior architecture and graphic and publication design.
For years Álex has jumped between these fields, and surface pattern design is her latest stop on this long journey. It’s the best way she knows to distill all she has learned. It’s also the place where she’d like to stay, dressing up the spaces occupied by adults and children with simple geometric organic shapes. Álex is inspired by the abstract forms of nature, bold and delicate —opposing facets which, when properly worked, are able to coexist harmoniously in a pattern.
