BOM-July-2015-IG

It might be 100 degrees out, but luckily for us Yvonne of Quilting Jet Girl designed a cool block that has us dreaming of the ski slopes as we sew up July’s winning design for the Cirrus Solids BOM Challenge. Yvonne even has a quick tutorial on how to design your own blocks on her blog, as well as a ton of other inspiration, so now is a great time to escape the heat, stay inside, and get sewing. Spring Quilt Market left us in the dust as far as the BOM challenge was concerned, but the good news is that now we’ve got back to back winners for you! This week, we’ve got last month’s beautiful block designed by Lynn Kline. Finished Cirrus Solids HST Challenge quilt

We had the opportunity to work with one of our local quilt guilds, NYC Metro MOD Quilters, on a Cirrus Solids HST Challenge. The challenge was to create a block using one of three color combos and using only half square triangles, with an added touch of only one or two accent triangles in the block. The results are amazing! Here is the finished piece of all the member’s blocks, which were jointly arranged and then pieced by Maria Gualdoni and quilted by Rachael Dorr. You can see the 3 winning blocks below (one block from each of the color combos).
